Consultation on a proposed planning application.Crofthead Holiday Park at McNairston, Ayr are proposing to submit a full planning application for an extension to the existing holiday park. We are seeking views from the local community on the proposals and this leaflet provides details of the development and how you can share your thoughts on this in advance of an application being submitted.
It is proposed to extend the holiday park to site an additional 150 holiday lodges for sale. The extension involves a change of use of existing fields which are sited next to the existing Holiday Park to the south and south east. The site is 8.4 hectares (20.7 acres) and is not on good quality agricultural land.
Access to the site would be taken from the existing access off the A70 at the Old Toll, Ayr north east of Bowmanston leading to the existing park access off the B742, McNairston Road(post code KA6 6EN). The existing spine road within the park would serve the new units. The proposed application site is outlined in red on the image overleaf.
An example of the proposed units is shown in the photo opposite which is a group of lodges in the latest phase of development within the existing park.
Crofthead Holiday park is a family owned and run park which was purchased in March 2001 and is for holiday use only. It is designated by the Scottish Tourist Board as a 5 star holiday park and following planning approval for an extension in 2015 has grown to offer over 350 holiday lodges for sale including some which are reserved for rent. The park has recently added a substantial play area, a new dog walking area, a new office and reception and substantial landscaping throughout .The Park is very attractive to holiday makers as it is close to Ayr and there are few new pitches available as the consented existing development is nearing completion.
